From 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, residents can attend a meeting to discuss various options to improve transportation in, out, and through Waimea town. To be held at Waimea School Cafeteria, the meeting is being coordinated by planning firm SSFM International on behalf of the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation (DOT).
DOT is initiating the Waimea Regional Safety Study to identify an alternate roadway for travelling through and around Waimea. The purpose of the study is to identify a feasible bypass that would improve safety and provide overall benefits to the community. This replaces work DOT previously referred to as the Kawaihae Bypass.
